Water Resource Assessment for Hormiguero, Nicaragua

Course: 18.510 - Water Resources System Assessment

Partnership Description:  Three MDI representatives presented information to this class about MDI in general, and specifically regarding their essential oils small business and farming diversification opportunities, including a cooperative located in Hormiguero, Nicaragua.

 

Project Description:  Water Resource Assessment for Hormiguero, Nicaragua.  Students were assigned the development and writing of a report for the people of El Hormiguero that addressed issues in their regional location regarding water resources using concepts learned in the class.
 
Learning objectives met by the S-L project:

  • To synthesize the students’ knowledge of water resources and apply in to one particular location
  • To practice writing a technical report for a non-technical audience
  • To realize the complexities of a real customer, especially in dealing with a location about which little information is available.

 

Community objectives met by S-L project:

  • To provide written water resource assessments of the village and essential oils small business.
